Bangla

A few things first. Bengali is a term that is coined by the British when they went about colonizing the world in the days of old. So Bengali basically means “from” or “pertaining to” Bangladesh. Bengali is to Bangladesh as American is to America. So although it would make sense if someone were to say “Bengali language”, that’s like saying the “American language”. To specifically refer to the main language spoken in Bangladesh, it should be referred to as the “Bangla”.
